Establish a year round facility for the arts in Navarre by bringing the barges, Desoto and LaSalle, plus the tug “Ms Nari”, from Beaumont, TX, to moor in Navarre Sound.  These barges contain:  100-room hotel, 200-seat restaurant, and a 200-seat theater, among other amenities.  The GNBAA would use these facilities to showcase artists, host theater and music presentations, have fund raising events, stage workshops and seminars, hold art and music classes, and more .

PERFORMANCE STAGE:

From the beginning, we have wanted to build a professional performance stage for the area that would ideally, be located out at Navarre Beach.  We started that project using ‘found’ lumber and plywood left after Hurricane Ivan hit our area.  Members banded together to build a stage that would be ‘portable’ in concept, to move around the area for events. This stage is now located in Navarre Park behind the Visitors Information Center on Hwy. 98.
 

We have developed plans for another stage, also portable in concept that would be of a significant size to host local school bands, church performances, school choirs, regional music acts, and theater events.  We submitted this stage idea to ‘Impact 100’ in Pensacola for grant money.  We will continue to promote this idea and seek funding.

NAVARRE GUEST ARTIST PROGRAM:

The GNBAA has a ‘dream’ to enliven and educate children and adults in our area through visiting artists.  The artists, sponsored by the GNBAA, would live here for short periods of time and bring their professional expertise to teach classes in local schools, hold performances, instruct talented students, and enjoy our community.  Guest artists could include professionals in many fields:  Musical instrument instruction, orchestra conducting, dance and theater techniques, short films or animation, and more.
